Pink Avocado Catering was created in 2006 out of a passion for amazing food and service. The then one-man operation saw rapid growth after booking its very first event—catering the anniversary party for the Austin Film Society and its 1,000 guests. Through word of mouth, a lot of hard work and a commitment to producing
one-of-a-kind events, Pink Avocado has become one of the most beloved catering companies in Austin.

We believe that using the freshest ingredients produces the best results. We are tireless in staying abreast of the latest food trends. And we are obsessed with creating customized menus and culinary masterpieces for our clients. Simply put: we exist to make your vision a reality.

Pink Avocado is a member the Austin Chamber of Commerce; Austin Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce; National Association of Catering Executives (NACE); and International Special Events Society (ISES).

Meet the dream makers.

- Executive Chef

Brent Schumacher is the executive chef of Pink Avocado Catering. He holds more than 20 years of restaurant and catering experience. Born and raised in Detroit (the REAL Big D), his first professional position introduced him to the rewarding relationship between food and making people happy. It remains the foundation for what drives him today. Upon relocating to Austin in the mid ‘90s, Brent helped open the first Central Market, where he became executive sous chef. There he honed his culinary skills, learning from some of the country’s most respected chefs. His entrepreneurial spirit and desire to create unforgettable food led to the opening of Pink Avocado in 2006. Though Brent spends most of his time thinking about food, in his spare time, he loves competing in triathlons, playing the drums and staying on top of culinary trends. He’s an animal lover, pit-bull devotee and proud owner of his energy-efficient electric car, Herbie.

- Dream Maker

Britt has been in the event industry for five years. After graduating with a degree in communication studies from UT, she pursued a career in marketing and event planning before landing an awesome job at Pink Avocado. In addition to wedding planning, she’s rocked events like Austin Fashion Week & Rarest of Them All. Britt came to Pink Avocado to make everyone's catering dreams come true and bring a little sunshine to the team. She’s thrilled to work for a company with such a positive and encouraging atmosphere. She also loves Pink Avocado’s customized catering philosophy and knows it’s what makes PA stand out from the other caterers in town. When not spending time with her incredibly handsome hubby Jeff, she's loving on their five dogs, traveling as much as possible, exploring new restaurants, tackling a home project and enjoying Austin!

- Beverage Manager

Chris came to Pink Avocado with seven years of Austin-area catering experience under his belt. His love for all things food and beverage began while attending Texas State University, where he graduated with a BA in English and History. After graduating and marrying wife and fellow adventure lover Andrea, they lived and taught in Chiang Mai, Thailand and Hanoi, Vietnam, and Chris brings this unique, cultured perspective to Pink Avocado. As the beverage manager, Chris creates drink menus and helps clients choose wine and spirits to suit their events. He’s driven by the opportunity to be creative and make someone’s special day even more fun. When not at work, you can catch Chris at the gym, lounging by one of Austin’s springs or lakes or doing exhaustive research on bars and restaurants around the world.

- Director of Culinary Operations

Hollace has been with Pink Avocado since its humble beginnings. She holds more than 20 years of cooking experience, many of which she earned while pursuing a liberal arts degree at UT. After graduation, Hollace taught Austin inner-city children, while working nights and weekends at Pink. She left at the height of her career to pursue a new one with PA because she really believes in the company’s mission and wanted to help grow the business. Her farm-to-table upbringing, coupled with the cooking talents of her mother and grandmother, helped foster a love of fresh ingredients and amazing flavors. Having lived and traveled throughout Europe and the Southwest US has also had a great influence on her cooking style. In her free time, Hollace enjoys live music, being a barbarian and pet shepherding.

- Executive Sous Chef

Jim can usually be found in the Pink Avocado kitchen steering the ship and ensuring the fare is of excellent quality. He’s always experimenting with ways to do things better and enjoys taking food to the next level. Although Eastern cuisine and pastries are his favorite categories, he's up for ANY challenge. His early days at Central Market led him to Pink Avocado and the realization that this is what he should be doing professionally. In his downtime, Jim enjoys spending time with his partner Michael, ink pens, cookbooks with excessive detail and good binding, tattoos, lemon bars, Swedish metal and Thai food. He believes that short individuals are superior due to their low center of gravity and higher brain-to-body mass ratio. Jim holds a BFA in studio art and a master’s in clinical social work from UT.

- Chef de Cuisine

Tim has been a professional in the restaurant industry for 20 years. Born and raised in Tampa, Florida, Tim graduated from the Orlando Culinary Academy with cum laude honors. Upon completing his externship at the world-renowned Bern's Steakhouse, he was hired full time and promoted to saucier where he honed his skills in preparing refined soups, sauces, stocks and demi-glaces. Prior to joining the Pink Avocado team, he worked as a sous chef in the kitchens of two of Palm Beach County's premier country clubs gaining valuable experience in banquets and private parties. Tim has been a part of the Pink Avocado Catering staff since 2010 when he moved to Austin, Texas. In his spare time, he enjoys making music, collecting records, puppy dogs and picnicking.

- Sous Chef

Joel grew up in Ypsilanti, Michigan. He moved to Texas with the goal of attending culinary school, but quickly fell into an awesome job at Pink Avocado. He was so impressed with the talented team he realized a potential career with the company, while gaining invaluable hands-on experience. He eventually worked his way up the ranks to become sous chef. Joel brings a one-of-a-kind style to the table and has recently found his niche in creating exciting gluten-free recipes. He’s thrilled to be a part the Pink Avocado team where he’s seen rapid growth since he started in 2009. He loves the energy in the kitchen and at the events he cooks for. When not grilling up a mean burger and fries, Joel enjoys fishing, working on cars, playing with Tim and relaxing with his wife Deven and their rescue pit bull/Jack Russell terrier, Sadie.

- Logistics Manager

Nate was born in Dallas, Texas. Growing up in the restaurant industry, he knew that his love of good food and service would lead him to find his calling. Taking his yet unrealized talents to Austin, he found a new, local catering company was hiring. Under the guidance of his Pink Avocado coworkers, he quickly became the “Jack of all trades.” Today, Nate spends most of his days pulling event inventory, locating the finest wares, tending the occasional bar or cooking for a gig. When he’s not helping Pink Avocado throw the finest parties this side of the Mississippi, he enjoys hanging out with his family, floating the river and the sporadic road trip.

- Director of Operations

Tina landed in Austin three years ago, just one week prior to South by Southwest. She quickly hooked up with Pink Avocado and fell in love with the company and the team. She vowed she’d never return to the corporate world again. With a love of food, cultivated by her Italian and Russian upbringing, and her passion for organization and optimization, Tina has helped restructure the Pink Avocado operation. When she's not attached to her laptop, you can find Tina hanging out with her dog, Malone, and watching her two amazing children rowing Townlake.


Born and raised in Canada, Sarah studied Business Management at Arizona State before deciding to give Austin a try. Here to stay, Sarah came to Pink Avocado Catering hoping to bridge her love of great food and wine with the business side of things. She's brought to the team a great attention to detail, a keen sense of organization and an overall excitement to the office that is contagious! When she's not baking amazing treats for the team, she enjoys spending time with her parents, exercising, traveling, and enjoying what Austin has to offer.

You’ve got questions, we’ve got answers.


Q: I’m interested in your catering services, what’s the first step?

A: You have several options: you can call us at (512)-656-4348, send us an email at info@pinkavocadocatering.com, or complete the event questionnaire on the "Contact" tab on our website. We’ll gather details about your event and then we’ll design a custom menu based on your unique preferences.


Q: How do tastings work?

A: We reserve several weekdays and Sundays for private tastings depending upon your schedule. Because our kitchen shops for and prepares your custom menu, there is a charge associated with the tasting based on your proposed menu cost. We think it's important you taste everything on the menu, so you can go into your event confident the food is amazing and what you envisioned. We require at least one-week advanced notice to schedule a tasting.


Q: Can you provide staff for my event?

A: We have an amazing Pink Avocado staff that is food-handler certified. They are familiar and comfortable with every type of food service from buffet to multicourse meals and everything in between.


Q: Do you offer bar tending services and do you have a bar tending license?

A: Yes! We have talented staff bartenders who are TABC certified and can make a mean drink! Our in-house beverage manager is our sommelier and mixologist and loves to create signature cocktails for any type of event. We have a liquor license and insurance which allows us to serve and sell alcohol in any venue or location in Texas.


Q: When is my final head count due?

A: We like to know your final guest count two weeks prior to your event date. This gives our kitchen ample time to prepare for your event. At that point, we’ll revise your contract and update your final balance.


Q: Can you assist with furniture set up and breakdown?

A: Absolutely! We just need to be aware of the expectations prior to your event to ensure we are staffed appropriately to handle the set up within the allotted time block. We can also assist with table and chair movement during your event if staffed appropriately.


Q: What is Pink Avocado doing to be eco-friendly?

A: We use only 100% biodegradable disposables. These disposables are made from corn or other natural products. We also use organic and local foods, sourced from local farms, whenever possible.
